PLDI 2020

The PLDI 2020 Program for Student Volunteers gives full- or part-time university students from around the world the opportunity to attend and contribute to a premier forum for all areas of programming language research, including the design, implementation, theory, and efficient use of languages.

As a PLDI 2020 Student Volunteer, you will work with the PLDI organizing committee and with other students from around the world to help run an exciting virtual event. The activities will involve video-editing in advance of the conference, co-hosting Zoom webinars, and helping to manage the conference’s Slack channels and virtual social activities. Eligibility

Applicants can be undergraduate, Master’s, Ph.D. full- or part-time students, of computer science or related fields.

Duration

Applicants must be available for at least four (4) full days between the 14th and 20th of June, and will be expected to provide 15 hours of volunteering work in that time. Volunteers will also be expected to be available for some amount of pre-conference discussion and training. Priority is given to students who are co-authors of papers at PLDI or any co-located workshop, tutorials, etc.

About Volunteering

The skills, talents and dedication of the Student Volunteers contribute to the overall quality of the Conference. The Student Volunteer role this year will mainly involve preparing for the conference by helping manage videos from participants, and running the conference by co-hosting Zoom meetings and managing Slack channels.

Qualifications

A Student Volunteer should:

  • Be enthusiastic and highly motivated, with strong interpersonal skills,
  • Be fluent in English, which is the language of the conference,
  • Be reliable, punctual and organized,
  • Be a self-starter.

Call for Participation: Student Volunteers

To be considered as a Student Volunteer for PLDI, fill out the application form

The applications and acceptations will be done in two phase:

1st deadline for application: February 28th, 2020.

2nd deadline for application: May 8th, 2020.

Acceptance Notification

All applications received by the deadline will be reviewed and volunteers selected will be notified by:

1st notification: March 7th, 2020.

2nd notification: May 15th, 2020.

Priority will be given to the 1st round applications. Applications received later may be considered depending on need, but will not be given priority.
